Greeters
Leaders: Gail Berger

You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

                                                                                          Deuteronomy 10:19

Why does St. Augustine Church need this ministry?

The Greeters are the first contact for those who come to worship at St. Augustine. Our main purpose is to make them feel welcome, whether they have been attending our Church for years or it is their first time at St. Augustine.

What do team members do?

  • Welcome attendees at the front door with asmile

  • Offer a Welcome Packet and a name tag; point out the Welcome card in the packet

  • Tell those with children about Sunday School and child care

  • Encourage them to stay after the service for coffee hour

  • Introduce them to Pastors Liz/Maryellen

  • Initiate contact with others of our Church family during coffee hour

  • Assist anyone who might need help with special needs

  • Work closely with ushers

Suggested Skills:

  • Ability to make friendly conversation with people you don't know

  • Concern for the well-being of guests and parishioners

Time required:

  • Arrive at church 20 minutes before starting time

  • Follow Greeter quarterly schedule for days assigned

Will I work alone or as part of a team?

  • 10 a.m. service typically has three greeters
