Deacon’s Corner
Creation is Still Happening.
Summary: New ideas, life-forms, and earth features are happening every day. Creation is not still, because God is alive and creating every day.
My sermon last week was sobering, but I hope not discouraging. There is always hope, both because we have the free will to change our behaviors, and because God never stops creating.
My favorite Psalm is #104. It’s a hymn of praise to God as the supreme Creator and Sustainer of all life, emphasizing God’s magnificent power, wisdom, and care for God’s creation.
24O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
25 There is the sea, great and wide;
creeping things innumerable are there,
living things both small and great.
26 There go the ships
and Leviathan (whale) that you formed to sport in it.
I love the idea that God takes great joy in creating. The psalm continues. . .
31May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
may the Lord rejoice in his works—
32 who looks on the earth and it trembles,
who touches the mountains and they smoke.
33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
