Keeping Creation Healthy: Three Easy Things We Can Do

We know that plastic pollution is a problem, not just for the ocean, but for all of us. But what can we do? Well, half of all plastic produced is made for throwaway items. HALF!!

Let’s take note of how often we rely on single use plastics and one by one, replace them with reusables. Three easy things to do? Bring your own leftover containers to the restaurant, carry your own water bottle, and keep a shopping tote in the car.

One of the easiest ways you can help God’s creation thrive is to stop buying bottled water. Each year close to 20 billion plastic water bottles are tossed in the trash. We’d like to think these are being recycled, but plastics are complicated.

Recycling plastic is practically impossible. Plastics with a number one or two stamped on the bottom are the most likely to be recycled. Everything else we toss in the recycling bin is usually dumped in the landfill by our waste companies.

If you care about this issue, notify your elected officials, and pray for those working to develop new ways to recycle plastic. God made our world and it’s up to us to keep it healthy. We got this!
