The Sacred Ordinary

Summary: God meets us not only in grand revelations but also in the quiet, everyday moments where love, kindness, and beauty dwell.

Dear Beloved,

So often we imagine God’s presence arriving with fanfare—burning bushes, parting seas, tongues of fire. But most of life is lived not in dramatic miracles, but in the rhythm of ordinary days. If we limit our vision to the spectacular, we risk missing the countless ways God is present in the here and now.

God invites us to open our eyes to the holy in the ordinary. We meet God not only in the sanctuary, but in the laughter of children, the embrace of a friend, the smell of bread baking, the stillness of a morning walk. Every act of kindness, every moment of beauty, every breath of compassion is a whisper of God’s Spirit weaving through our lives.

Jesus modeled this truth. He spoke of lilies and sparrows, of yeast and seeds—ordinary images of daily life through which he revealed extraordinary grace. In doing so, he invited us to discover that the sacred is never far off.

This week, I encourage you to slow down and pay attention. Notice the sunlight spilling through your window, the neighbor who greets you, the taste of your morning coffee. Each of these can be a sacrament—a sign of God’s abiding presence and love.

When we learn to see God in the ordinary, the whole world becomes a sanctuary. And our everyday lives—our errands, chores, conversations—become places where the holy takes root and blossoms.

With hope and gratitude,

Pastor Anny+

Prayer for the Week:Holy One, open my eyes to your presence in the ordinary moments of my life. Teach me to notice your love in simple things, and help me to walk through each day with gratitude and wonder. Amen.
