When Light Is Shared, the World Changes

John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

Summary: The light of Christ is not fragile or distant but alive among us, growing stronger every time we choose love, compassion, and faithfulness in ordinary moments.

Beloved,

This liturgical season keeps drawing us back to light. Not the kind that dazzles or blinds, but the kind that steadies us. The kind that helps us see one another more clearly. The light of Christ does not hover above the world. It enters it. It takes on our joys and our wounds and refuses to let darkness have the final word.

I think we sometimes imagine Christ’s light as something fragile, as if it must be protected from the world. But the Gospel tells a different story. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it. Light is not afraid of dark rooms. It is made for them.

Sharing the light of Christ does not mean having all the answers. It does not require perfection or certainty. It begins with presence. With listening. With choosing compassion when it would be easier to withdraw. Every time we tell the truth with love, every time we refuse to dehumanize another person, every time we show up when it would be simpler to stay silent, light spreads.

This is the work we are called into together. Not as individuals trying to be impressive, but as a community learning how to reflect what we have received. The light of Christ grows brighter when it is shared. It multiplies through kindness. It takes shape through justice. It becomes visible through mercy.

I see this light among you. I see it when you care for one another quietly and faithfully. I see it when you make space for questions and honor the dignity of every person. I see it when you choose generosity, even when the world tells you to protect what is yours.

The world does not need us to shout about the light. It needs us to live it. To carry it into ordinary places. To trust that even small acts of love matter more than we know. Christ’s light is already at work in us. Our calling is to let it shine.

Let your light shine,

Pastor Anny+

Prayer for the Week: God of light, help me carry your love into every place I go this week. Teach me to trust that even small acts of kindness can shine in the darkness.
