When the World Is in Turmoil, God Is Not Absent

Updated: 2 hours ago

Micah 6:8 He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Summary: When the world feels unstable and overwhelming, God calls us not to panic or withdraw, but to live faithfully, lovingly, and courageously right where we are.

Friends in Christ,

The world is in turmoil. We feel it in the news, in our conversations, and in the quiet ache that settles in our bodies when we realize how much feels beyond our control. Violence, division, and deep uncertainty can leave us wondering what faith looks like when the ground feels unsteady.

The Bible never pretends that turmoil is unusual. Scripture was written by people who lived through exile, occupation, persecution, and loss. What it offers us is not escape, but guidance. Again and again, God does not ask the faithful to fix everything or to predict the future. God asks us to live in a particular way, even when the world is shaking.

Micah tells us plainly. Do justice. Love kindness. Walk humbly with God. This is not a checklist for calm times. It is a calling for moments exactly like this.

When the world is in turmoil, God calls us to tell the truth about suffering rather than deny it. Lament is faithful. Naming pain is holy. God can handle our fear, our grief, and our anger.

God also calls us to stay present. Jesus did not meet a broken world with distance or domination. He met it with compassion, healing, and shared meals. Faithful presence matters more than loud certainty.

We are called to choose love over fear. Fear shrinks our world and hardens our hearts. Love opens space for courage, generosity, and relationship. Loving our neighbors, especially the vulnerable, is not optional in uncertain times. It is central.

God calls us to community. We are not meant to carry the weight of the world alone. We gather, we pray, we serve, and we remind one another that hope is still possible.

And finally, God calls us to hope that is grounded, not naive. Hope that acts. Hope that shows up. Hope that trusts God is still at work, even when the story is unfinished.

The world may be in turmoil, but God is still calling. And we are still listening.

Stay faithful,

Pastor Anny+

Prayer for the Week: Faithful God, steady our hearts in uncertain times and guide us in the ways of justice, kindness, and humble love. Help us live faithfully, even when the path is unclear. Amen.
